
Volkswagen is planning the update the New Beetle for the 2012 model year. Although it will retain much of the styling of the current generation, the latest Beetle will still see ample changes, particularly in regards to back seat room and overall quality.
The CEO of Volkswagen Group America Stefan Jacoby promised that the upcoming 2012 New Beetle become a sort of halo car within the VW lineup as its space and packaging have become the major focus for designers and engineers. The New Beetle will also be responsible capturing greater sales volume, which Hartford CT Used Cars suggests has continued to struggle since the current generation’s sales peak in 1999.
VW realizes that the New Beetle is different from the competition says Saint Louis Volkswagen in that it provides an emotional appeal with consumers. With the current generation now showing its age, Wausau Used Volkswagen admits VW is in need of freshening the current Beetle, plus heed to the demand for more rear seat passenger space, will be all that’s needed to make the Beetle a hit once again.
Although the new package has to be differentiated enough from the current model to halt slumping sales, VW seems to be mindful of the risk of diluting the Beetle’s appeal. The new generation looks to become much better, without becoming much bigger, which is exactly what’s needed.
