The ill-fated Volkswagen Phaeton may be preparing for another round in the U.S. market. According to Bloomberg News and USA Today, VW will be bringing the full-size luxury sedan back to the U.S. by 2018.
According to reports, the American version of the VW Phaeton will offer different engines choices compared to models being offered in Europe and China.
Despite reports, Volkswagen has not officially confirmed the arrival of Phaeton in the U.S. market. However, with the success of Hyundai and its up-market aspirations, that may indicate an opportunity for VW. Afterall, one of the biggest problems with the Phaeton was the challenge of convincing consumers to fork over $85,000 or more for a Volkswagen.
There is an all-new VW Phaeton hitting other markets next month. Reports say that the Phaeton bound for the U.S. will not be based on this new model, but will rather be the following generation.
